I booked this tour hoping to understand what a typical Greek meal/dinner might consist of. We stopped at a bulk store (beans, grains, etc), a large grocery store and vegetable stands. There was no providing what foods would have been used to make a dish. The tour was a very pleasant walk through an area of Rhodes I might never go to but I’d didn’t learn much about the connection of shopping and preparing.

HHOur Rhodes Town Food Markets Tour gave my partner and I an enjoyable education of where Rhodians go shopping and to eat and drink, a little off the beaten track and away from the main tourist centres.

Chryssa, our host, was very friendly and knowledgeable of the authentic food and drink culture of Rhodes, taking us to family businesses and to the Wednesday town market, where we sampled and purchased local produce including olives, olive oil spices, confectionary and beverages.

We were given a sense of the authentic pattern of life of the people who live and work in Rhodes, and of how the local people nourish body, mind and soul.

Chryssa was so accommodating with our schedule and set up a tour time that worked for us. We were able to communicate with shop owners so much better and had amazing finds. We came in February when Old Town was mostly closed so nice to get out of the walls and discover real Rhodes!
