This was such a special experience. It was so interesting to hear about the different growth cycles of the various vegetables. I also loved the drive out to the farm. It was incredibly beautiful and worth every minute from downtown Kyoto. Highly recommend!

Chuck has planned everything really well and has helped us to have an indeed unforgettable experience. I had the chance to escape the touristic Kyoto and diving deeper into the mountain side/nature. We have been picked up by Chuck at the Kyoto Station and he has been driving us through the mountain side to show us more about the beautiful nature there before arriving at the farm. We could learn a lot about farming and harvested some vegetables, which we ended up eating and these were soooo delicious. You see that it’s a heart project for him and that he’s really focused on using natural ways to grow his vegetables. In the end of the trip we went to a beautiful temple. Thank you again for the unforgettable experience 🥳

I had a great day at Charles’ farm picking vegetables, learning about the vegetation in the area & the way they irrigate & simply being away from the city & enjoying farm country. Charles is a great host, very friendly & warm, knowledgeable & wanting to share his passion with others. It was interesting hearing about how he ended up in Japan as well. There wasn’t much structure to the day like a typical “tour” & was pretty slow paced so it might not be great for those that get bored easily or don’t actually have an interest in gardening or nature. It could be fun for city folk who’ve never grown anything themselves though & are curious. I visited at the end of winter & the greens & root vegetables he grows are so tasty fresh from the field so it encouraged me to plant winter crops next year. We had a tasty & filling homemade lunch of veggie & tofu soup & really good salmon.
