Mai was so great during this experience, we had a coffee next-door and then went into the experience and started getting suited up right at 1 PM. Mai gave us a map of where to walk and sure enough directly down the closest street in front of you is the middle of the Gion district with tons of other people dressed just as us. We felt so Comfortable and amazed as Americans and would definitely do this again.

This was a very unique experience. At first I was very shy and uncomfortable to walk around dressed in my kimono, but a lot of people do it.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Mai is a sweet and extremely accommodating host. She is also quite capable and very knowledgeable of her craft. She had both of us dressed and styled in about 30 minutes, giving is an early start to walk around Kyoto and take photos. Keep in mind you will be wrapped in many layers so this experience may be better in colder months if you get hot easily. If you have bad feet, you have the option of skipping the sandals and just wearing whatever is more comfortable for you. We highly recommend it and look forward to doing it again the next time we’re back in Kyoto.
