Hands down the best host you can ask for! Carol and her husband have been nothing short of accommodating and hospitable. Carol especially was always asking if I needed anything and recommending things to do and places to visit, and she also accommodated all my requests!

The loft is gorgeous, very spacious, filled with plants, beautiful antique furniture, and artwork (which they showcase in their gallery downstairs!). It was the perfect place to ease my transition into the country as it's very cozy and had everything I'd needed.

The variety of food we sampled was extraordinary, each bite bursting with authentic flavors that showcased the rich culinary traditions of Chinese culture. From savory dumplings to aromatic teas and delectable noodle dishes, every stop offered something unique and memorable. The food alone would have made the tour worthwhile, but what truly set this experience apart was the insightful narrative woven throughout.

I stayed at Carol’s place for a month. She is a really nice person & very responsive. I really loved the decoration which is full of art & has a soul for sure! There are also some workshops held in the art studio which is located downstairs if you are interested. Before booking, you should consider that instead of the Moss Park, there is a big construction right in front of the place and it was really noisy for me. The place is also close by to a shelter and she informed that it is not safe to walk especially during the evening. There were a lot of homeless & addicted people around. Of couse she can’t do anything about it but still would be good to know before heading! I assumed there will be a dish washer as i saw a photo of it. She actually didn’t write it down in property features. I learned that it is not working when i got there, my mistake. Make sure to ask tablets for black clothes as well if you don’t want to be sorry about them later. I’m sorry to forget to clean the dryer!

Ms. Carol’s Chinatown tour was one of the best travel experiences I’ve had! At 70, she’s a breath of fresh air, warm, wise, and full of stories. The 3-hour tour was both intimate and personalized, with fresh food at every stop and thoughtful tea pairings with each meal. As someone who doesn’t eat meat, I appreciated how she made sure there were options for me at each location. We visited a dim sum spot, Chinese bakery (amazing pineapple buns), Thai bakery, Chinese medicine shop, Asian grocery store, and a Chinese BBQ with seafood, roasted chicken, and Peking duck. Carol shared the history of Toronto’s Asian communities and even gave me dissertation tips as we chatted. Her deep roots and passion truly made the experience unforgettable. It was the perfect Saturday morning, and I can’t wait to return and join her again! Whether you're local or just visiting, this tour is a must-do. It’s meaningful, flavorful, and unlike anything else I've experienced.
