Wow - what an amazing tour. My advice is not to think any further - just go for it. Soham showed us places we would never find ourselves - and he also gave us the right lenses, the key to understand what was in front of our eyes, something not immediately easy to comprehend for foreigners. Drawing from “The Middleman”, a movie depicting Kolkata’s realities, Soham broke down the city’s complexity and made it more legible. I particularly enjoyed his perspective on the division between heart and mind - intellect and development - that’s something I will always keep in mind when looking at India. What an incredible, once in a lifetime experience. If you're lucky enough to be in Kolkata during the festival you should definitely check it out. So much insightful cultural background and local knowledge. Highly recommended.

His attention to detail amazed us — from sanitised “puchkas” and well-timed toilet breaks to surprise stops for ice cream and rosogollas. His historical explanations were excellent, especially contrasting the revolutionary Sarbojanic Pujo at Bag Bazaar with the opulent Bonedi Bari celebrations originally organised by british colloborators . The choice of pandals was perfect — we experienced the essence of Durga Pujo without being stuck in crushing crowds. The evening ended with a memorable sit-down Bengali dinner at Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor — a pleasant surprise even for us vegetarians. Soham waited till the very end to ensure every guest left safely.
