This was a really amazing experience with Yuji. We started at the knife museum where he gave a basic history lesson on the knife industry and explained the different knives used in Japan and how they are made - this was super interesting and gave a good bit of context. Then we went to the workshop to learn how to sharpen. Yuji gave very clear instructions and importantly equipped me with the knowledge of not just the steps to sharpen a knife, but how to test the sharpness and feel the blade so I can understand which parts of the knife need sharpening. Yuji spoke perfect English and was really knowledgeable and a great teacher. Would highly recommend if you want to learn and experience Japanese culture and craftsmanship.

A very unique and authentic experience! It was a birthday surprise for my husband and he is helping me to write this review. The location is directly in Sakai in the shop and fabric of master Wada. The staff speaks very good English and before starting finishing your personalized knife you get a great guided introduction in the Sakai knife museum. The atmosphere is very relaxed, no hurries at any time and everything has a personal touch. For both of us it has been one of the most special moments during the many trips we have made all over the world. If you are having any doubts whether to book or not: do it :)

This experience was so fun and we learned so much! Our hosts were knowledgeable and gave us a glimpse into Japanese culture. The knives came out beautifully and will last for years to come.
