I had a wonderful time working with Gözde - highly recommended! Her studio is gorgeous - spacious and full of natural light. The session was very well planned. Gözde offered a great selection of designs and provided clear instruction to get me started. I was a complete beginner and still wound up with a final result that I was really pleased with - the perfect souvenir. Gözde is knowledgeable about the history of the art form and the materials, so i learned a lot and got ideas of other things onsee. As a bonus, the neighbourhood around the studio is just lovely, full of coffee shops and restaurants. I had a great walk around the area after class. I felt like I experienced a tasty slice of Istanbul culture!

This was a lovely experience, I'd never tried mosaic before and really enjoyed it. It was a great excuse to wander through Kadikoy to the studio. Gözde was warm and friendly and introduced me to the tools and the basics. We chatted about the different mosaic styles and materials and then she helped me choose a design to make. Then she mainly left me to get lost in the process, checking in and sharing tea and treats to keep me going, while she chatted and laughed with the other women in Turkish around me, and we all hummed along to the radio. The time flew very quickly and before I knew it, I had to rush off to meet a friend - unlike me, I'd recommend leaving extra time in case you run over to get it finished! Gözde even wrapped my piece securely for travel and it made it home safely. Would definitely recommend for a lovely afternoon and a touch of genuine local culture. Thanks Gözde!
