Nice walks around the nature reserve, plenty of bird life to take in. Great place to walk dogs.

Good for walking, mountain biking and birdwatching. Nice views of the Duddon Estuary and views back to High Lowscales and Black Combe.

Walk around the coast, from the slag heap to haverigg. Turn left out the door and walk left down Devonshire Rd past the Devonshire Arms which is lively, and friendly. Walk past the slag heap to the beach and the fishing boats. Follow the shore round to the right, this takes you all the way round past the old docks, past millom beach, around the sea wall, bringing you to haverigg. Amazing walking on the sand at low tide. Harbour Hotel, rising sun and working men's club all great in haverigg and more character than the millom pubs. Walk back past herdwicks which does great food
