A Norman Castle built by Sir Payn "the Demon" de Turberville (1126), one of the legendary Twelve Knights of Glamorgan. Now in ruins, very close to 14th Centruy parish church St Mary the Virgin.

These atmospheric castle ruins are all that remain of this once sprawling fortress, but they continue to be a romantic spot filled with mystery. Dating back to Norman times, the castle was heavily rebuilt throughout the 14th century before falling into disrepair, however, there are still many sights to appreciate. Discover the remains of a striking 3 storey keep, dramatic curtain walls and an imposing gatehouse. A truly interesting slice of medieval history.

Although it probably won’t take you more than an hour to look round. This is well worth a visit. It's strangely in the middle of a housing estate. Would be knights and princesses can let their imagination. No toilet or cafe facilities but it's free and easily doable.
