This is my mom's favorite place to visit. (And not just because I come from a family of super-Catholics.) The Basilica of St. Lawrence is an architectural wonder. It was designed in 1905 by the Spanish architect Rafael Guastavino, who came to Asheville to work on Vanderbilt’s Biltmore Estate.
