We go for the bar rather than the restaurant - lovely subterranean atmosphere. A good wine bar.

This is in a great restaurant/bar in the cellars of one of the New Town townhouses. It's mostly a seafood restaurant with reasonable prices for city centre Edinburgh. Unsurprisingly, has an excellent wine list. My favourite is their Chablis. Warning - on a Friday night - it's full of lawyers and accountants who have just finished work, making it ridiculously noisy and frankly a bit pretentious. They also sometimes have live music - best check if that is on and if it's your thing before booking a dinner table.
