An absolute MUST see on Belle Isle - The Dossin Great Lakes Museum is an historical maritime museum places special interest on Detroit's role on national and regional maritime history.

If you're interested in ships and the Great Lakes, this is a must-see. (Personally, I also recommend it for the surprising contrasts between the city and this very different world of big ships and water)
