Free access (donations are accepted, it is situated near the DOC Information Centre. You can see some of our native birds e.g. Kaka, Takahe.

This is the only place where you can see a takahe, the bird once considered extinct, but was re-discovered in the mountains on the other side of Lake Te Anau. It's a nice45min walk from town or 1/2hr from DOC office.
