Local castle and gardens. The grounds have plenty to explore including a river and beautiful gardens. Definitely worth a visit!

A wonderful place with acres of grounds for families. There is a giant tree house and so much more , gardens, historical interest. Converted stable and buildings, cafe and themed events.

If you are looking for somewhere to spend the day, we would highly recommend Lowther Castle. It’s about a 45-minute drive but is definitely worth it! It boasts its own castle ruins and gardens but is amazing for the kids as they have a “hidden castle” in the woods which is basically a huge castle shaped play area and is big enough for adults too! You’ll also find tree swings dotted around the gardens. A fun day out at a fairly reasonable price.
