10 miles. In Little Rome, you will be in awe of all the little chapels and the crypts. Famous people go there. A neighbor ran into Mother Teresa just praying in one of the chapels, kinda intruded, confirmed she was the tiny heroine, and got a blessing from her. Also, if you see a nun(s) eating in public, pay for them anonymously. Watch when they learn of someone’s kindness. They live in poverty by choice, and that might be their only real meal for the day (past few days).

Beautiful church--just up the street. It's the largest Catholic church in North America, and the tallest habitable building in the city.

Even for non-Catholics, the Basilica is one of the most beautiful buildings in DC. One of the best examples of Neo-Byzantine architecture in the US, it's also the largest Catholic church in the US.
