Walking on this route is first of all enjoying the fresh sea air and the beautiful coastal landscape and its numerous bays, but also a lot more than that. This is also an opportunity to learn about local history: since its inception in Volosko, in addition to the home of a great scientist Andrew Mohorovičić, continuing along the old sanatoriums and boarding houses on the north side, through the park Angiolina and Slatina and further south to the gorgeous Lovran villas, the Lungomare passes by the building , location and memorial features that talk about an interesting story about Opatija's history.

Lungomare is officially known as the Franz Joseph I Promenade. It is the famous coastal promenade that starts in Volosko and ends in Lovran. This is the perfect relaxing, educational, and romantic walk along the sea.

● Lungomare - seafront promenade that stretches along the coast of Kvarner Bay. Lungomare connects Lovran all the way to Volosko. This is a MUST visit - to get to know this area, you have to take a walk on the Lungomare. Admire the view of magnificent historical villas and other spectacular pieces of 19th-century architecture while you walk by the sea, become more acquainted with the richness of the coastal vegetation and feel the beneficial effects of the local climate. My tip - go on an evening walk, after 19:00 :)
