Great place for swimming, hiking, fishing, biking, rafting, gold-panning, camping and general recreation during the summer months. It’s low elevation also makes it a great place for a day hike in the winter.

On the way to Yosemite and right off the scenic Hwy 140. Finding swimming holes and beautiful campgrounds. 12 miles away from Mariposa downtown. Merced River Trail head is also nearby with scenic hiking routes.

There are many activities to enjoy on the Merced River including gold panning, whitewater rafting, swimming, fishing, bird-watching, hiking and biking.

One my favorite places to go in all seasons :) There is a flat trail that follows the Merced river that can be used for hiking, running, mountain biking. In the spring this is one of the best places to see wildflowers. In the summer there is an easy access parking lot and designated areas for swimming. There is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day. It is located on the way to the west entrance to Yosemite and is a great stop along the way or on the way out of the park.
