Hiking Camelback Mountain is almost like a right of passage here in Arizona. It’s a favorite among locals and tourists alike. As a result, both the mountain and the parking lot can become quite crowded and you could have to wait just to get a parking spot. That being said, it’s a hike worth tackling at least once as the views of Phoenix and Scottsdale from the top are undeniably great. There are two trails up to the top. This Echo Canyon trail is a difficult 1.2 mile ascent to the peak making it a total of 2.4 miles round trip. Rails will help you as you climb up the steeper sections. Bring your camera, as you’re going to want to take pictures at the summit!
