The Portuguese film Library is a public institution dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of film art and, in particular, Portuguese Cinema. It was created in 1948, in Lisbon, where it remains until today. The library organizes film and exhibition Cycles, featuring a museum of cinema, archives, libraries, bookstore and bar-restaurant. The National Motion Picture Archive (ANIM) is under its purview.

Amazing place to involve yourself into the cinema world throughout the decades from the very beginning! The Cinemateca offers a large variety of movies from classics to the independent festival and special guest such as directors, journalists, actors and other professionals. All movies in original language with Portugues subtitles! A cosy bar with a courtyard, where drinking or attending a concert is a pure pleasure. Some rooms are dedicated to the instruments used to "make" a cinema. Unexpected treasure also for the not kino-lovers.
