Vestmarkavegen/FV21 (14 km south of the cabin) A beautiful place to hike. The Soot Canal was a canal system located at Eidskog in Hedmark, Norway. Constructed in 1849, it has Norway's oldest sluice gates. It was the work of Engebret Soot (1786-1859). It was built to allow timber to be transported (floated) to the Halden sawmills. 3,6 km from parking lot to canal. However, you can continue from the canal through a small cabin community to kilometers of trails through the forest and along the water. Many possibilities for picnicing and swimming.
