Sightseeing
Byers Lake is an easy 40 minute drive from the chalet. Situated within Denali State Park, from Byers Lake you can enjoy a casual afternoon hike, rent kayaks or a canoe from a local vendor, or simply take in some of the best sightseeing in the area. One of the best panoramic views of Denali (Mt. McKinley) can be seen from the opposite side of the lake-- just a 20-30 minute hike on well-maintained trails and relatively level ground.

Byers Lake
Byers Lake is an easy 40 minute drive from the chalet. Talkeetna has historic charm and small-town Alaska character. From the Talkeetna Spur junction at MP 99.6 Parks Highway (AK-3), drive 14 miles (23 km) into Talkeetna. Along the way, stop to sample birch syrup or locally-crafted beers, or enjoy an easy/moderate hike at Talkeetna Lakes Park. At the end of the road sits Talkeetna. From there, you can book an ATV tour, a sightseeing flight above Denali, a train ride, a zipline tour, rent bikes or simply enjoy some of the best restaurants in the area. Walk to the end of Main Street to the water's edge for a great view of Denali.
