Byers Lake is an easy 40 minute drive from the chalet. Situated within Denali State Park, from Byers Lake you can enjoy a casual afternoon hike, rent kayaks or a canoe from a local vendor, or simply take in some of the best sightseeing in the area. One of the best panoramic views of Denali (Mt. McKinley) can be seen from the opposite side of the lake-- just a 20-30 minute hike on well-maintained trails and relatively level ground.

Visit Denali State Park, just an hour drive north of Talkeetna. Rent a kayak, or hike the trail around the lake.

50 minutes north of Talkeetna: Rent a kayak (guided or unguided). Hike around the lake (guided or unguided). And enjoy a view of Denali from the far side of the lake.

Byers is a hidden gem in Denali State Park. There are boats for rental or guided kayak trips if you're interested in learning about the area. The park boasts hiking trails for all levels of fitness.
