You’ll visit botanical landmarks and uncover the stories behind unique trees and plants that highlight fascinating aspects of the city’s history. • Explore the lush indoor greenhouse at the Horticulture Center before visiting the Pavilion in the Trees, an interactive art installation nestled in a woodland canopy that offers insight into the park’s ongoing restoration projects. • Admire the serene Shofuso Japanese House and Garden and the Centennial Arboretum's remarkable trees including beautiful cherry blossoms in early spring. • Marvel at Michaux Grove’s towering oaks, planted in the 1870s along with others for the Centennial Exposition, before we walk back to the Horticulture Center. Demonstrate how to mix and manage the nutrient solutions and discuss the importance of maintaining proper pH levels. Phase 3 (1 hour) Participants start assembling their Kratky hydroponic grow kits by placing growing medium in containers, insert net pots, and prepare for seed planting. Participants plant seeds in their grow kits. while being guided on seed depth and spacing. Labels are provided to identify the planted seeds. Phase 4 and Closing Activities (30 mins) Discussion of common problems in Kratky hydroponics (e.g., pests, algae, nutrient deficiencies). Provide solutions and preventive measures for these issues. Learn how to recognize and address early plant growth issues. Discuss how to care for and maintain their Kratky systems at home. Provide participants with a follow-up resource packet, including care instructions, maintenance tips, and additional resources. What makes our experience truly special is the fusion of art and agriculture in a hidden hydroponic farm within Bushwick's art studio. This event fosters a sense of community and shared learning.

Horse Farm Experience at Dragonfly Meadows

One of our trained team members will greet you and take you on a stroll through Dragonfly Meadows pasture and learn a bit about the our animals. You can choose to feed and groom any of our beloved farm animals. We will supply treats and brushes. If weather permits and you desire, we will assist you to sit on or ride the horse in a round pen. If you do not see a time available that meets your needs please message us what works for you. We will see what we can do to bring your experience to real life. Dragonfly Meadows is the home of rescue horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, one cat & more animals to come. Our team offers an experience to all those interested in learning and loving on our animals. Located on over 120 acres near Perry Lake just 25 mins from Lawrence or Topeka, and 50 mins from Kansas City. Do you have your RV in tow?
