Utenfor døra finnes et flott terreng for toppturer både til fots og på ski. I tillegg er det et flott utgangspunkt for å utforske resten av lofoten siden stedets plasseringen midt i Lofoten gjør at de fleste steder kan nås i løpet av en time. Kvelden kan man tilbringe forran vedovnen mens man venter på nordlyset.
