Philly cheese steak is synonymous with Geno's in South Philly and neighboring Pat's (which I like more). This is a must. I would recommend an Uber or Lyft to get there and then enjoy walking around the neighboring Italian Market.

Both Pat's and Geno's are located on 12th and Passayunk in South Philly. Cross street legendary rivals. Follow instructions for ordering! Try one of each and join the age-old debate on who's better.

Local Fave. So it’s a friendly competition between Pat’s steaks. Their stores literally face each other. So you have to buy a steak from each place and weigh in on this debate. Whose is the best

You can't come to Philly without trying an authentic Philly cheesesteak "wit or witout" onions. Also, try Pat's Steaks across the street from Geno's or Jim's Steaks on 400 South St.

“Pat's and Geno's are the two most recognizable spots to grab a cheesesteak for people outside of the city. People who live in the city, however, think of them as a bit of a tourist trap. If you must make the trip over and see for yourself, it's about a 10-minute walk. We'd recommend Pat's, as it's less of a spectacle than the neon monstrosity of Geno's”
