At the top of the Royal Mile, you will find the famous Edinburgh Castle - you can pay to enter or visit the esplanade for spectacular views over Edinburgh. note: During August the Edinburgh Tattoo is on, so Esplanade access is limited

The Castle is a great place to visit. Not only is it an impressive building with a rich history, but it also provides spectacular views over the rest of the city. Highly recommended if you have a few hours to spare.
