l tempio venne eretto in onore dell'imperatore Adriano, divinizzato dopo la sua morte. È probabile che il cantiere dell'edificio fosse stato già avviato sotto Adriano stesso per dedicarlo alla moglie Vibia Sabina, morta e divinizzata nel 136. A lavori forse appena iniziati, la vera e propria costruzione del tempio si deve al suo successore, Antonino Pio, e venne terminato intorno al 145. Nel 1695, sotto il pontificato di Innocenzo XII, i resti del tempio furono inglobati da Carlo Fontana nel palazzo della Dogana di Terra. Nel 1831 l'edificio fu adibito a sede della Borsa Valori di Roma, per poi passare alla Camera di Commercio di Roma. Restano ancora visibili undici delle tredici colonne originarie del lato nord, attualmente inglobate nel palazzo che ospita la sede principale della Camera di commercio di Roma. L'edificio era in passato conosciuto erroneamente con il nome di tempio di Nettuno. ----- English ----- The temple was erected in honor of the emperor Hadrian, deified after his death. It is likely that the construction site of the building had already been started under Hadrian himself to dedicate it to his wife Vibia Sabina, who died and was deified in 136. With works that have perhaps just begun, the actual construction of the temple is due to his successor, Antonino Pio, and was finished around 145. In 1695, under the pontificate of Innocent XII, the remains of the temple were incorporated by Carlo Fontana into the Palazzo della Dogana di Terra. In 1831 the building was used as the seat of the Rome Stock Exchange, before passing to the Rome Chamber of Commerce. Eleven of the thirteen original columns on the north side still remain visible, currently incorporated in the building that houses the main seat of the Rome Chamber of Commerce. The building was in the past erroneously known as the temple of Neptune.
