La Bodeguita del Medio is a typical restaurant in Havana in Cuba, and one of the great tourist places in the city, where numerous visitors have passed, from writers to politicians. Many of them have left their mark on the premises through souvenirs, photos, objects or graffiti on its walls. In them you can find copies of signatures as unusual as that of Errol Flynn and some originals such as that of Salvador Allende. The place is best known for the authentic Cuban mojitos they serve and for having been frequented, among others, by Hemingway, who was very present in Havana culture. The writer left a phrase, well known throughout Old Havana, that says: "My mojito at La Bodeguita, my daiquiri at El Floridita."

La Bodeguita lays claim to being the birthplace of the Mojito cocktail, prepared in the bar since its opening in 1942, although this is disputed. The rooms are full of curious objects, frames, photos, as well as the walls covered by signatures of famous or unknown customers, recounting the island’s past.
Back 1942, this well-known restaurant was a small grocery store. This was one of Hemingway’s favorite bars and his place of choice to sip a mojito. It is worth a look if you are on a Hemingway trail or simply want to see a bit of history. One day, journalist Leandro Garcia, a regular costumer, decided to put his name on one of the walls and soon many other distinguished personalities followed suit, including Pablo Neruda, Agustín Lara, Brigitte Bardot, Ignacio ‘Bola de Nieve’ Villa, Ernest Hemingway and Salvador Allende. This is a must for most visitors.
