Henry Clay Frick’s personal art collection is displayed in what was once his Upper East Side mansion. The elegant rooms are filled with European sculpture, decorative arts, and paintings by old masters. There are only a few of these grand mansions left in the city, so it’s a rare taste of old New York. The first Friday of the month is free. No kids under 10 are allowed into the museum, so if you go on a weekday, you don’t need to worry about field trips overtaking the galleries.

The Frick is by far the most unique museum in NYC. Enjoy visiting the gilded age mansion of a NYC robber baron and its extraordinary art collection.

Millionaire industrialist's former home turned museum displaying Western European art.
Located in a residence on the Upper East Side, The Frick Collection is my favorite museum in NYC. The decor of each room is made to match in color and mood to the pieces that adorn its walls. From Byzantine frescoes to the Dutch masters Vermeer and Remembrandt to the splendor and extravagance of French Rococo, this museum is a feast for the senses. Top off your trip uptown with a stroll through the adjacent Central Park.
