Catch the train from the historic Freshwater Train Station, just a stroll away. A great rail journey up to the colourful village of Kuranda with a stop along the way to view the Barron Falls. Audio commentary in each of the vintage/refurbished carriages provides information of the history of the area and the building of this difficult track. Recommend you combine this with a return via the Skyrail.

This is a great way to soak in the scenery as you board the train at Freshwater station where the locomotive pulls its heavy load of train carriages and rattles past beautiful rainforest covering the hillside, slipping by steep cuttings and chugging through hand blasted tunnels to reach your final destination of Kuranda. You can then walk the lovely streets of Kuranda village experiencing all it has to offer before either hopping back on the train for its return journey or hopping on the Kuranda sky rail and arriving at Smithfield.
