Built in 1878, the neo-Gothic exterior and Art Nouveau interior is the elegant building that can be seen as soon as you have landed on the island. It was the residence of the Florio family in Favignana and the center of social life, where Ignazio Jr and Donna Franca used to host famous people during the "mattanza", the tuna fishing. Today it houses the municipal council, the municipal library and the tourist info point. The ground floor also houses a small antiquarium of archaeological finds from the Egadi seabed and a malacology collection. The upper floor and the garden frequently host art exhibitions.

Un pezzo di storia della famiglia Florio da visitare gratuitamente. Ma nella mia memoria rimane il ricordo che, negli anni '60, le scuole di Favignana erano l'attuale palazzo del comune mentre i piani inferiori di palazzo Florio erano da noi utilizzati come refettorio scolastico.
