This part of Central Park has been closed off to the public since the 1930s and it was just recently re-opened. It's a bit of a sanctuary for birds, and other greenery and wildlife that have been able to stay isolated from the rest of NYC for the past 85 years or so. It's far south in the park, which is the part most people visit so that's convenient if you're visiting Central Park. It still has limited open hours so check online for teh hours before you go.

A stunning four-acre secret garden that's been closed to the public since the 1930s, left to migrating birds, invasive plants and many different animal species like raccoons, rabbits and woodchucks.
