The church of St. John in the wilderness is one of the oldest Anglican churches in Dharamsala/McLeod Ganj. Nestled in a copse of mighty Deodar trees, the church is rather aptly named, and even today, is an island of wilderness in a rapidly growing tourist destination. The church was built in 1852, to provide a place of worship for the British soldiers posted here, and the church is full of memorial stones of those who passed away here. The church is open from 7 am to 6 pm on all days. Services are held on Sunday mornings.

St. John in the Wilderness is a Church built in 1852 located in Dharamshala Cantonment Area and it is in on the way to McLeod-Ganj town infect it is near to McLeod-Ganj .
This 18th century church can be visited during afternoon hours. Old graves encompassed by huge tall Oak trees only allowing a slant of sunlight, makes this place a secluded but beautiful affair.
