You have different possibilities, to visit islands by ferry or just take some of the touristic boats which are organizied as daily trips. It is possible to visit national park of river Krka (near Šibenik) or you can book rafting or canoeing in river Cetina (near Omiš). If you are interested in history of Split I definitely suggest taking a touristic guide, who will show you the most interesting parts of the Diocletian palace and tell you how locals live and think.
