Picturesque Lake Ellesmere is across the road, with 50,000 birds at last count making it a bird watchers haven. There are plenty of friendly animals and maybe a freshly laid egg for breakfast. 45-50 minutes drive south from Christchurch city, 10 minutes east of state highway 1. The nearby villages boast outlets for local arts, crafts and antiques, and a fine swimming pool for the many hot summer days.

Beautiful charming cottage with fantastic view. The cottage has a queen bed, a sitting room, shower, bath and toilet with own deck. Not self-contained but has a gas cooker, bbq set, microwave, mini fridge, kettle and toaster. Tea/Plunger coffee are provided. There is a walking track below the cottage and also more walks around here. We are located in Diamond Harbour, 20min walk to jetty that you can catch a ferry to Lyttelton, only 10min ride, beautiful journey.
