This is a small selection of our favorite places for food. We usually go to the our favorite places bus we also like to try new ones.
How to pick a place. From the name (traditionally but always check the menu first since marketing tricks are everywhere):
Trattoria/Osteria: easy place with traditional food and easy service
Pizzeria: you know that
Ristorante: higher level food and service
Ehm…this is a place you must try. Local Roman cusine and also normal Italian one.
Beside renowned classics such as Carbonara, Amatriciana, Cacio e Pepe and Gricia, here you cand find authentic Roman cusine, which is all about oxtail, lamb, cow trip, liver and whatever.
We love this place and my mom loves it too so I get it personal.
You must get if available:
Puntarelle (a super special salad with an anchovies dressing you can eat only in Rome)
Carciofi (artichoke is a religion in Rome) alla romana (fried with garlic and mint) or alla giudia (deep fried full)
Please Note: home and trattoria food in Rome is never super saucy, we like it simple and not rich, food here is 100% authentic.
Service here is not great, it is a family run trattoria so let’s be easy and drink some more house wine!

This is the most scenographic location in Rome in these days. Perfect for a romantic or a special occasion.
Summer terrace with a cocktail bar on the rooftop and restaurant beside Borromini’s Sant’Agnese in Agone dome and bell towers. Just book in advance and ask for an outdoor table overlooking the dome.
Also one of the few places in central Rome where you can find good seafood.

Simply the best pasticceria in Rome.
They are famous all the way to Korea for their maritozzi alla panna (an historical roman sweet google it and try!).
Our favorite are chocolate or lemon curd bignè and everything else. Quaresimale is interesting too, but with no whipped cream

Watch out could be pricy compared to roman standards, but worths a try!

Cool place for a day drink or apero, very local. It used to be an hat shop, when they renovated it and turn into a café, they kept the entire interior, we love this place, very homie
