Food Scene

An East Asheville hidden gem! If you are hungry and want consistently good food, but are on a budget, this is the place for you! There's a huge outdoor space with a sand volleyball court, corn hole boards, arcade games, and a creek (hence the name) that kids are welcome to play in.

Very much a comfort food place. But, I love the brunch burger. They also have live music pretty regularly.

The breakfast sandwiches are really good - they source the meat from local farmers. And the coffee is really pleasing as well. This is probably the only coffee shop in Asheville that I care about.

Both locations are always busy, but this is the only place I've found in Asheville that will do pitchers of mimosas.

ALRIGHT, LISTEN UP! The correct way to get brunch here is as follows: 1) Have someone else drive you to Sunny Point. 2) Put your name on the list. 3) Come back to my place to shower. 4) Go back in about an hour when you are finally 7th-9th in line (the app they use keeps track of your place in line). 5) EAT. Seriously, the wait for brunch during busy season(s) in Asheville is INSANE. But everyone will recommend you try this place.

Honestly, their $5 margaritas are the best in town. It is not worth spending more money elsewhere to get a nice marg. The food here is jamaican-inspired; it's not my favorite place to eat, but I usually get the dip trio and eat chips and guac while I drink down a few margaritas.

Spanish inspired tapas! You will need reservations in advance to get confirmed seating, although there is a community table and bar seating if you feel like trying your luck. Order a pitcher of sangria! This is one of Asheville's pricier dining/brunch options, but worth it if you want a Spanish experience.

Drinks & Nightlife

I didn't know how to properly label this one. Salvage station is a restaurant, bar, river tubing stop, and music venue all in one. The drinks are good, the food is good, and the outdoor space is awesome. No dogs allowed, though; they're pretty strict on that rule.

Probably Asheville's premiere music venue. Check out there website for upcoming shows.

This rooftop bar has the best view of the sunset. It is a seat yourself type bar, which means it can be pretty packed during peak sunset time, but it is worth elbowing some people out of the way to see the sun fall behind the mountain range.

Even though Wicked Weed sold out to big name beer, you'll need to stop at the Funkatorium and try a brewery making sours! You don't get that very often anywhere else.

The locals don't go to, "The Mansion" (aka the tasting room) - there's the original bar for Green Man down the street that is cozier and has a food truck.

The beer here is lighter than Burial, but not as tart as the Funkatorium's options. I like coming here to sober up after Burial whilst playing giant jenga or ping pong. There's usually a food truck parked outside.

The beer here is good and strong, and the permanent food truck (has weird hours, though) is pretty good. I usually start here first when doing the South Slope brewery crawl.

You can get to this park pretty easily from house, as the green way it is connected to is only two blocks away. It is a great route to run.

I like this grocery store because it's pretty easy to find parking, and you can walk across the street to Trader Joe's for anything you can't find here.

Sightseeing

It's the Biltmore House. I don't know what to write other than there are far fewer people in the house in the morning than in the evening. If you don't mind missing out on some of the lighting, I would go in the morning when you aren't shuffled en masse with the other thousand people in the house.
