Large murals of historic events and activities are painted on buildings found throughout the town. Honokaa is a surprisingly Western (Cowboy) town found on a Hawaiian island. It hosts a Memorial Day Weekend rodeo and Western Week each May celebrating it's Paniolo (Hawaiian Cowboy) tradition.
