Parks & Nature

This is one of the most beautiful Victorian parks in the country, with spectacular views over the city and beyond. In the summer there are open air theatre and music events. A cafe and visitor centre are open year round, as well as a functioning butterfly house. Best of all, it's only 5 minutes walk from our house.

A cycle path from the centre of Lancaster leads along the canal and past the ancient Roman aqueduct to a hidden gem in the Lancaster countryside. The caravan park is a place for longer stays, but all along the river you can find picnic spots right by the water, which, when the weather is warm enough, is perfect for swimming.

Sightseeing

Lancaster is only a short drive (or train ride) from the Lake District, a truly beautiful region. The closest and most popular is Lake Windemere, and the town itself contains many bars restaurants and local produce. There are miles of walking paths that encompass the lakes, an excellent place to take photos, dogs, or a painter's canvass! In fact many famous painters have flocked to the area for inspiration.
