It is one of the first resorts to open in the Maldives and the closest to Hulhumale'. Day trips are arranged through the management. Let us know and we will make contact with them.

Sightseeing
Greater Male' City is made up of the Capital Island Male', Hulhumale' and Vilimale (Vilingili Island). There are local ferry and speedboat services linking them. There are lots of interesting places to go. The Museum, Local Market, Male' Harbour Area, Fish Market, The Friday Mosque, Sultan Park as well as plenty of shops. Male' is a very small city with lots of bikes and cars so getting around is a bit annoying at times and one has to be rather careful. It has character, I must say and plenty of nice cafes and restaurants. Note that alcohol is not served in any inhabited islands but in resorts and in Hulhule' Island Hotel only.

Malé
Greater Male' City is made up of the Capital Island Male', Hulhumale' and Vilimale (Vilingili Island). There are local ferry and speedboat services linking them. There are lots of interesting places to go. The Museum, Local Market, Male' Harbour Area, Fish Market, The Friday Mosque, Sultan Park as well as plenty of shops. It has character, I must say and plenty of nice cafes and restaurants. Note that alcohol is not served in any inhabited islands but in resorts and in Hulhule' Island Hotel only.
Check out local catch and the fishing frenzy around the area. Bit smelly so not for the faint-hearted, if you like. Great place to buy fresh fish.

Hulhumale' is a new island that is being populated in order to ease the population explosion in Male'. A bridge is being constructed to link the two now. Central Park is just 5 minutes walk away from my apartment and it is quite nice for picnics and walking around. Quite spacious and green! Check it out on the web. Everything is close by, like cafes and restaurants.

Central Park is just 5 minutes walk away from my apartment and it is quite nice for picnics and walking around. Quite spacious and green! Check it out on the web. Everything is close by, like cafes and restaurants.
It used to be the home ground of the old Sultan's of the Maldives, hence the name, experts say. It is not big anymore, we thought it was huge when we were young. Worth a walk through as you go around the area. The National Museum is in the same compound.

Getting Around
Hulhumale' Ferry terminal is about 10 minutes walk from the apartment, through the Central Park. There are regular ferries, local boats, leaving every 10 minute or so. Single fare is MVR 5.50 (USD 0.35). and operates throughout the night with a break after 2:00 pm. The trip will take roughly 20 minutes under normal weather. There are also half hourly speedboat services from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, Single fare is MVR 25 (USD 1.75). Do check the time tables or ask at the ticket booths for details.

This a full fledge branch of Bank of Maldives with a 24 hour ATMs in operation. It is just about 5-10 minutes walk away from the airport. You can withdraw local currency here. If ou need to withdraw USD, you need to go to the main branch in Male', where they have special ATMs for that. Normally, its paid out to credit cards. I tried using my HSBC visa debit and it doesn't work. General banking services are rendered during working hours, 09:00 am - 02:00 pm Sun-Thurs.

The main Hospital is only a few minutes walk away. In an emergency, you could just come down and walk or take a taxi from the taxi centre which is past the Bakery in the corner, like 50 steps away from Saimaa Residence.

It is in the airport, so either you get a bus or the taxi from Hulhumale'. What I normally do its, after a day out in Male' I get the airport ferry from Male' to the airport and take the kids there and get the Airport Shuttle Bus to Hulhumale.
