Local attractions that are great for families
I take my kids to this park all of the time. They love seeing the farm animals. There are tons of free and affordable activities, including a Farmers Market every Sunday in the summer. My friend, KC Gray, has a gourmet coffee stand at this farmers market and the coffee he makes is excellent.

Wheeler Historic Farm

Excellent for a picnic or easy nature walk for the whole family to enjoy. Great photos of the whole family year round. This place connects to several longer trails if you want to enjoy a more challenging hike.

A little bit further away, but totally worth the drive if your family likes splash pads. This lark is seriously like a free water park! Our family enjoys packing a cooler and staying the whole day. The last time we were there we flagged down an icecream tricycle man who accepts money transfer as a form of payment. It was such a fun day!

If you wanted to view the Wasatch Back the old fashioned way, my kids love the Heber Creeper railroad. Check their website for ticket information. Most of the train rides involve a robbery and an old fashioned Western shoot out (Don’t worry mom, the guns are fake) but sometimes there are special themes or events, so check the calendar.

My favorite restaurants are the Pointe Cafe (where the photo was taken inside of Huntsman Cancer Institute), Bombay House, and Corner Bakery

There are also lots if unique shops and restaurants in the neighborhood of 9th and 9th. The Kings English bookshop is one of my favorite places in the whole wide world.

There are also lots if unique shops and restaurants in the neighborhood of 9th and 9th. The Kings English bookshop is one of my favorite places in the whole wide world.
We enjoy the Children’s Discovery Gateway and the Planetarium. City Creek Mall and the Gateway are great shopping destinations for families. While you are there, check out the historic LDS Salt Lake Temple Square and Conference center. Free tours are given year round by LDS missionaries (usually two young women from all over the world). Tours are offered in multiple languages daily.
