Bricks is named after the brick-making industry that once was a hallmark of this community.
While they're known for their pizza, they have a large menu and food / beer can be bought for take-out.

The rock formations are stunning, the river wild and beautiful and there are free guided tours throughout the summer.

Climb this free observation tower and take in the whole region. The park also has a Japanese Garden and a veranda that overhangs the entire city.
This is a must stop.

There's an 8-mile sandy beach beyond the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. There's public parking at the "S Turn" where the welcome sign is and at the end of the far end of the point.
There's a hiking trail at the end, too.

If you stop at the parking area where the William Munger State Trail crosses E Hwy 210 before the state park, it's a short trail walk to our favorite swimming spot.

This is one of my favorite swimming places on earth. You can park in Chester Park's lot, cross Skyline Parkway, and head down the trail on either side - we tend to select the right-hand side (west).
You'll get there in about 15 minutes, passing a few waterfalls along the way.

North Country National Scenic TrailThis is one of my favorite swimming places on earth. You can park in Chester Park's lot, cross Skyline Parkway, and head down the trail on either side - we tend to select the right-hand side (west).
You'll get there in about 15 minutes, passing a few waterfalls along the way.
It's ridiculous that this is right in town.
Another crazy beautiful trail system with a sweet place to swim (good for little kids) just as you enter the park.
Teens cliff jump up the trail -- not for the faint of heart.
