A personal favorite and where my older son dreams of working for his first job when he's old enough. Amazing ramen tucked away and hidden in the village. Go find it and thank us later!

Ok, to be honest, it's not the best pizza you'll ever eat, but it's the only pizza game in town. Beautiful view from the dining room and (limited) waterfront outdoor seating. Gets busy! Be prepared for a wait and if you're ordering pizza for pickup, order early.

Super cool arcade packed with classic pinball machines lovingly restored and maintained. Owned and run by a local neon artist. Usually something interesting and offbeat in the back art gallery space.

Outdoor Adventure

The best beach and the only official off-leash dog beach! Nice soft sand, driftwood forts, and expansive shallow water to wade around and play in.

This is our favorite of the three lakes on the south end. Known for being very clean, popular with the open water swimming community. No gas powered motorboats allowed, so it's quiet and serene compared to the often rowdy scene at Deer Lake. This is where you want to bring the kayaks.

The crown jewel of Whidbey Island and not to be missed. Check out the main park and north beach, for sure, but don't miss my favorite little tucked away secret spot, Rosario Head. Check out the beach right in front of the parking area. In this one spot it's not sand, it's little black pebbles. Why? I don't know! But it's really cool. Then do the short hike out to the point, past the wooden statue of the woman holding a fish. Beautiful views of the San Juan Islands and way less crowded than the main park.

Eat and Drink (outside of Langley)

Solid deli eats. The owner Kim is a gem, and one of the best bosses around. Love to support her and this place. Grab sandwiches on your way to the beach!

I'm going to admit that I've never actually been here but it's been high on my list for a long time. Hard to get a reservation. Book as early as possible. Weeks/months in advance if possible. Intimate, unique chef's table type experience at a garden and farm.

Drive Madrona (many Islanders' favorite road) past the Penn Cove shellfish farm and to Captain Whidbey Inn. It's a historic waterfront lodge and restaurant with a recent facelift that updated the food and drink offerings with a hipster craft cocktail vibe, while maintaining the historic fishing lodge ambiance.
