Parks

The Hot Springs at Big Bend National Park is our top recommendation for activities in the park. Not only is there an amazing natural Hot Spring, it is also sitting right on the Rio Grande river - which is great to cool down when the Hot Spring is heating you up! This is a very popular destination so be prepared to share the space. If you're looking for more seclusion, go for sunrise or sunset. Make sure to wear your swimsuit! Bring cash if you'd like a souvenir. There are authentic Mexican souvenirs on this trail like hand carved & painted walking sticks, ceramics, & other trinkets. The short trail to the spring has a lot of bang for your buck! You will see historic building, ancient petroglyphs & pictographs from native Americans past, & the potential for wildlife.

The Lost Mine Trial is perfect if you want to summit a mountain while visiting the Big Bend region. This trail is 4.8 miles out & back, rated moderate. It's a climb on the way up, & descent on the way down. We recommend to pack water & snacks. When you reach the summit, it's the perfect place to rest & have a picnic. Just be sure to pack out what you pack in. You will see beautiful views all along the way. This trail is the most common area for bear sightings in the park. Be sure to make noise while hiking & keep an eye out for bears in the distance!

Santa Elena Canyon is arguably one of the most iconic places in the Big Bend National Park. It's one of the most popular hikes, & for good reason. It's an easy hike, accessible to most people. It's 1.4 miles - out & back. The views are incredible, featuring the huge canyon & the Rio Grande River separating Mexico & the USA. *Tip* Wear water shoes. When water levels are high you may need to wade through 10-20 ft of shallow water.

Neighborhoods

The Terlingua Ghosttown is ironically the densest & most populated area in our small town. There are great restaurants here, including DB's Rustic Iron BBQ, The Starlight Theatre, Taqueria El Milagro & more. For souvenirs, visit the Trading Post. Live music is a huge part of Terlingua culture, & you will find it at many restaurants in the area. You can also check out the art scene, from public art sculptures, galleries & shops. You can also visit the St. Agnes Church, the Terlingua Cemetary, & play around at the Terlingua Jail. The largest event is the Chili Cookoff each year.
