Tally Lake is said to be the second deepest lake in Montana, set in a long and narrow valley with cliffs and tree-covered mountainsides on either edge. The lake is fed from water from upstream Star Meadows, a large wetland which creates a tannic acid tint to the water. The water is perfectly clean and nice, but the dark coloration makes the lake water darker than other lakes in the area. The campground offers boating, fishing, camping, swimming, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Whitefish Mountain Resort is a ski resort in the western United States, located at Big Mountain in northwestern Montana. It is a world class ski resort and so one can expect all that that entails. The base lodge has lots of spiffy furnishings, and on-mountain dining, local bus/transport systems, and one of the best après ski bars in the world are particular stand outs. Geographically, Whitefish is located where Pacific storms collide with the Continental Divide. This creates remarkably consistent skiing with lots of snow. With snow comes clouds and fog. Yes, weather is a factor here.
