One of the most spectacular views of the toy train as it ascends completing 140 ft. a lot of tourists throng this beautiful spot in the morning to take photos of Mt. Kanchanjunga and to relish breakfast and also purchase woolen clothings and handicrafts from the market around. Most of the tourists gather here after they return from Tiger hill. This beautiful elevated spot is made to avoid sharp descent and ascend. One can feel how hard it is for the toy train to ascend as it produces the chhook, chhook sound. At the centre of the loop Gorkha War Memorial has been erected by the District Sainik Board Darjeeling.

Lloyd Botanical Garden, named after the donor William Lloyd, was established in 1878. The garden occupies the area more or less 40 acres. It lies just below the heart of the town approximately 15 Mt walk. previously a lot of botanical students from different parts of India used to be brought over here for research and educational tour. In a nutshell it is a heaven for the botanists. It is a peaceful area with a glass house for flowers and plants. One can escape the hustle bustle of the city in no time. There is a living fossil ( plant). Tourists enjoy taking photos , surrounded by flowers, greenery and calm and peaceful environment in the lap of Nature with chirping of birds, butterflies hovering over the flowers. Children also love to run and play with a lot of excitement since there is no fear of vehicles plying here and there. Unluckily these days this place is not mentioned in Darjeeling sightseeing because of parking problem. So many tourists miss this place. I really feel sorry for them. Ticket for the entrance cost Rs. 20/- at present.

A Peace Pagoda is the symbol of world peace. Most of the pagodas were founded by a Japanese monk Nichidatsu Fujii , after he witnessed the heart- rending sight of the loss of a lot of innocent people in Hiroshima & Nagasaki in the Second World War.
