There is also a gorgeous outside terrace where you can sit and have drinks, bar snacks and even wood fired pizza. A fabulous place for a sundowner with a little beach. A Yarmouth Institution.

There is also a gorgeous outside terrace where you can sit and have drinks, bar snacks and even wood fired pizza. A fabulous place for a sundowner with a little beach. A Yarmouth Institution.

This is a members’ club, however, if you have any kind of connection to another yacht club anywhere in the world, they are very welcoming and accommodating.
The food is excellent and the views are just stunning. Sunday lunches (booking essential) are traditional and delicious! Children’s menus are also available.

Another absolutely unique cafe/restaurant set in a converted railway station. The food is absolutely fantastic and the location is fab. Only a 5 minute walk from the house - on the old Freshwater Railway line walk. I would advise you book for dinner and possibly lunch at busy times, although usually you can find a table. Lovely views of the wetlands.

Only a 5 minute walk from the house - on the old Freshwater Railway line walk. I would advise you book for dinner and possibly lunch at busy times, although usually you can find a table. Lovely views of the wetlands.
A lovely restaurant above the Ferry office with a fantastic terrace overlooking the marina. In the winter they add pods to the terrace so you can still enjoy the view but keep warm! The inside is also charming. As with all the restaurants, booking is essential

A beautiful old pub with a stunning English country garden. Cosy log burning fires in the winter and a traditional feel. The food is very good, as is the wine list!

The Cow Co do the most delicious burgers and meaty dishes, set in a large barn style space, with a fun bar area too. We love this place. Check out the website as they have various live music events on throughout the year. Booking recommended.

This is absolutely our favourite cafe in Yarmouth. It sells the best coffee and has delicious home-made cakes and sandwiches. The carrot cake is amazing.

The Isle of Wight is brilliant for cyclists, with a well marked 60 mile Round The Island Cycle route. Download further info at www.wightlink.co.uk/do/cycling
For bike hire, we would recommend Wight Cycle Hire which is next door to ‘Off the Rails’. They will also be able to help with the best cycle routes. This is a 10 minute walk from the house, down Thorley Road and right down the path after Rofford Lodge.

We have had loads of fun fishing with Blackrock Charters. One year we all caught at least 30 mackerel each! You get to keep the ones you want to eat. They do deep sea fishing too. All equipment is provided. Booking essential.

This slightly surreal theme park has a definite quirky charm about it. There is loads to do and it is all set on the cliff edge, with stunning seaviews. If you have kids under 12, I would thoroughly recommend it.

This gorgeous old dairy farm is now a petting zoo and play area. Meet the animals in the Farmyard Barn or wander amongst the wallabies and meerkats. There is also a huge Straw Bale Adventure Zone with zip wires and pedal go karts. Plus a 3 storey soft play zone and massive jumping pillows. We wish this had been around when our kids were younger, it is just brilliant and another good place on a rainy day. There is also a cafe on site. (Tapnell Farm is also where The Cow Co is situated) There is now a brilliant Aquapark here in the summer which is great fun for kids and adults!

The gardens are lovely too and you can just picture the little princes and princesses tending their vegetable plots by the Swiss House. They have now restored the beach here too, so you could easily spend the day wandering around. There is a well stocked shop and a couple of cafes/restaurants. Go Go Go!!

If you have even a tiny bit of an interest in history, this place is a must see. Just incredible to be able to walk through this fascinating house, even seeing Queen Victoria’s bedroom. The gardens are lovely too and you can just picture the little princes and princesses tending their vegetable plots by the Swiss House. They have now restored the beach here too, so you could easily spend the day wandering around. There is a well stocked shop and a couple of cafes/restaurants. Go Go Go!!
Dimbola was the home of celebrated Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. It is absolutely fascinating and a real insight into a women who was ahead of her time . Regular visitors included Tennyson and Darwin. A charming, authentic museum and gallery

Beautiful gardens surround Lord Tennysons former home. The house has recently been renovated and you can now book house tours. Places are limited and it is dependent on the time of year. Definitely worth a visit if you like historical places.
