The Strawberry Line, as the name suggests, was once a railway line. This line, named after the delicious fruit it carried, closed in 1965 but was re-opened in 1983 when the conversion of the route to a pathway began and is a favourite with touring cyclists. You can pick the line up where the trains once passed through, at Yatton Station, where the Strawberry Line Bike Hire offers refurbished bikes for hire. You can take the line all the way into Cheddar if you’d like to visit the gorge via bike, with extensions planned to cover the entire old line – from Clevedon to Shepton Mallet. You can join the strawberry line literally just round the corner from "the nookery!"

Clevedon Pier is a seaside pier in the town of Clevedon, Somerset, England on the east shore of the Severn Estuary. It was described by Sir John Betjeman, as "the most beautiful pier in England" and was designated a Grade I listed building in 2001.[1] The pier was built during the 1860s to attract tourists and provide a ferry port for rail passengers to South Wales. The pier is 312 m (1,024 ft) long and consists of eight spans supported by steel rails covered by wooden decking, with a pavilion on the pier head. The pier opened in 1869 and served as an embarkation point for paddle steamer excursions for almost 100 years. Two of the spans collapsed during stress testing in 1970 and demolition was proposed, but local fund raising and heritage grants allowed the pier to be dismantled for restoration and reassembled. It reopened in 1989, and ten years later was awarded the Pier of the Year from the National Piers Society, and a Civic Trust Award. The pier now offers a landing stage for steamers and is a popular attraction for tourists and anglers.

Tyntesfield is a Victorian Gothic Revival house and estate near Wraxall, North Somerset, England. The house is a Grade I listed building named after the Tynte baronets, who had owned estates in the area since about 1500. The location was formerly that of a 16th-century hunting lodge, which was used as a farmhouse until the early 19th century. In the 1830s a Georgian mansion was built on the site, which was bought by English businessman William Gibbs, whose huge fortune came from guano used as fertilizer. In the 1860s Gibbs had the house significantly expanded and remodelled; a chapel was added in the 1870s. The Gibbs family owned the house until the death of Richard Gibbs in 2001. Tyntesfield was purchased by the National Trust in June 2002, after a fundraising campaign to prevent it being sold to private interests and ensure it would be open to the public. The house was opened to visitors for the first time just 10 weeks after the acquisition, and as more rooms are restored they are added to the tour. surrounded in beautiful grounds getting active across the Tyntesfield estate is the perfect way to see the plants, trees and wildlife. They put on events all year round but Christmas here is particularly special. http://nationaltrust.org.uk/tyntesfield 01275 461900

Blagdon Lake is one of Bristol’s main reservoirs, formed by damming the River Yeo in 1901. Stunningly beautiful, the lake has been taken over by nature and you could almost believe that it’s a natural lake. It stretches 430 acres, creating a rich wildlife haven, making it a relaxing place for a dog walk in Bristol. There is only one part of the lake that is open to the public for walking – a small woodland around some of the lake, with bridges across streams and fields which are perfect for picnics. Dogs do have to be kept on the lead here and cannot go in the water as it’s a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and blue-green algae can form in the water in summer months. However, if your dog is happy to trot at your heels you can enjoy the walk around the lake, where you will see some beautiful scenery and wander through lovely woodlands.

The reservoir is one of my favourite walks in the south west, it's an artificially created reservoir operated by Bristol Water, parking is free and it's very accessible to get to. It's such a pleasant walk to do either on your own, with you family or as I do with the dog. It takes just over an hour at a steady pace to walk around it and is such an enjoyment, be aware there are some sheep on the route so be careful with your dog's. Dogs must be kept on a lead. You can bicycle around it or the kids can scooter. The reservoir is for drinking water. No swimming allowed. Their advice is …. Reservoirs are complex machines designed to pull water in. There’s hidden machinery that cannot be seen from under the surface. There is a watersports company there called Cheddar Watersports Axbridge BS26 2DL Phone: 01934 732033

Another great pub which is close enough to be reached by walking from The Nookery (about 40 mins) but we tend to drive, leave our car in the carpark, have lunch there and then go and explore the surrounding area. Hill Road has a well earned reputation as being the prettiest road in Clevedon with a small array of shops and good places to eat. Junior poon chinese restaurant being one of my favourites and award winning too. On Hill road, you will find fashion, art, interior decorations, award winning places to eat out, an amazing chocolate shop, and gift shops. After a stroll down hill road a walk along the sea front to take in the pier is a must. The film "Remains of the day" was filmed here.

This is a Clifton village gem hidden down the cobbled back streets of boyces avenue. Want to know where is good to eat...? follow the locals is always my advice! A little bistro dining sitting in the sun watching the world go by, almost parisian. The Primrose Café has been under the same ownership for nearly 25 years and has become one of Bristol’s busiest and best-loved cafes. They make almost everything on the premises and take the trouble to source locally, sustainably and ethically. If you’re after privacy, why not tuck yourself away in their private and secluded roof garden? It's open all summer. primrosecafe.co.uk 1 Clifton Arcade Boyces Avenue Clifton, Bristol BS8 4AA 0117 946 6577

The Ethicurean Restaurant is in a very, very special place. A bountiful Victorian Walled Garden set against the backdrop of the ever-changing Mendip Hills.
The Ethicurean prides itself on being a truly responsible restaurant. Uncompromising in their pursuit of deliciousness, they serve forward thinking dishes utilising ingredients sourced from their garden and beyond its walls. Now in their second decade, they are re-imagining and re-inventing what a restaurant can and should be.
The Ethicurean does not cater for those who require a vegan or dairy free diet due to the amount of time required to prepare these menus, but all other allergies can be catered for with prior notice. They ask you to trust them when it comes to dislikes, and encourage you to be open-minded when dining with them. Book ahead it’s popular! 01934245888 Barley wood walled garden Long lane Wrington Bristol BS40 5DA Theethicurean.com

Another dog friendly place (although not in the restaurant area!) Its a traditional 17th century inn with a cosy pub restaurant. In the summer it’s lovely to sit outside and the food is really good. No delivery, dine in only or kurbside pick up! Lower Langford, BS40 5BL 2.2 miles away

A great local place to have breakfast. It has a charming little courtyard seating area for breakfast outside and its cosy inside but a locals favourite. Also great for take away pizzas.

I love this City!!! Its former city centre port is now the cultural hub, the harbourside, where the M shedmuseum explores social and industrial heritage. sooo much to see and do. Weston-super-Mare, also known as Weston, is a seaside town in North Somerset, England. It lies by the Bristol Channel 20 miles south west of Bristol between Worlebury Hill and Bleadon Hill. The nearest town to us. Weston's beach is flat and in the summer hosts donkey rides. There is a grand pier.

The Clifton Pool and Victoria Public House is an historic lido and public house situated in Oakfield Place in the Whiteladies Road area of Clifton, Bristol. Also known as the Clifton Lido, the pool is an open air swimming pool designed by Richard Shackleton Pope and opened on Monday 29 July 1850. The public house was added later. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building, and is set in a Conservation Area. The site is 885 square metres (1,058 sq yd) and includes a 250 square metres (299 sq yd) swimming pool. It has an amazing spa inside that give the best massages! The menus at the Lido have a strong Spanish and Mediterranean feel adding to the ‘holiday’ atmosphere of the venue. The open kitchen, its hot blazing Italian clay oven and bespoke charcoal grill, add to the drama already created by the grade 2 listed outdoor pool and surrounding buildings. One of my favourite near by beaches

Sand Bay is a long, expanse of sand and shingle, lying just 2 miles north of Weston-super-Mare, and across the Bristol Channel from South Wales. Popular with both beachcombers and horse riders due to it being long and flat. Great views across the Bristol channel to South Wales. Just a few minutes away from busy Weston-super-Mare, and is the perfect place to visit with family and dogs whilst in Weston-super-Mare. It can be easily visited on the open-topped buses taking the scenic route on the coast road. All buses are fine with dogs. Sand Bay is often referred to as "Weston-super-Mare's hidden gem". With a quaint and welcoming tea room near to the bus terminus is welcoming and prepares lovely food (dogs are welcome), at the far end there are lovely walks and a car park visited by an ice cream van. At the town end is South Sands. Beach Beach Road, Kewstoke, Weston Super Mare, North Somerset, BS22 9UR
