Fossil Creek (FOR HIKERS)

Fossil Creek Wild and Scenic River can be accessed via the Bob Bear Trailhead about 20 minutes drive north of the cabin. The 8-mile hiking trail begins at an elevation of 5,700 feet and descends 1,500 feet over 4 miles into the Fossil Creek canyon. The steep trail rewards visitors with access to one of Arizona’s most spectacular riparian areas. Advance permits are required to park a vehicle in the Fossil Creek permit area April 1–October 1. You can find out more up to date info on closures and get permits online.

Pine Strawberry Trail (FOR HIKERS)

You can access the 4.4-mile Pine-Strawberry Trail right down the street from the cabin at the Mohawk Trailhead (GPS Coordinates: 34°23'08.0"N 111°28'15.5"W).

Tonto Natural Bridge State Park is about a 17-minute drive south of the cabin and can be reached off the 87 between Pine and Payson. Please check online for up to date info about closures.
