Areias Leather in Sayulita was established and founded in 2005 by Sandra Aldao and Amaranta Ferrao, with a collection of trendy accessories for a fun beach life.
Areias Leather is in essence a combination of cultures, which represents styles shared between countries like the passionate Argentina, the exotic Brazil, and our beloved Mexico. Our Sayulita project house inspires us to find the sea, sand and tropical colors in each of our pieces.
Featuring a variety of handmade accessories in various leather textures, threads and fabrics. You will find great pieces that range from an irresistible fringed bag to perhaps a simple but attractive caprichito in crochet or even the pleasure of finding a unique and extravagant piece of jewelry.

Necklaces, bracelets, rings, ... all handcrafted jewelry with a unique design made out of the finest materials of high quality. One by one elegant pieces with a traditional, smooth willful touch.
Many of the materials used in each design are of a very limited quantity. A “trademark” of Debbie’s work would be specifically the use of rare 19th century Venetian beads in exquisite colors coupled with precious and semi-precious stones, tiny pearls and equally diminutive 18K gold connective pieces… in unusual shapes and designs. In keeping with the size and scale of each piece, the gold wire used is of a very thin gauge. Debbie has succeeded in obtaining the elements that make each piece of jewelry a signature creation. Through skill alone it would be impossible to replicate by anyone else.

As a generative process, I allow myself to be vulnerable to whatever I may encounter, then pour my observations and reactions into my work. Each piece is a concentrated effort that considers the unique characteristics of the observed. I embed my joys and tribulations into my creations using the visceral materials of wax, pigment, and heat.
The encaustic medium feeds my curiosity. Every piece begins as a provocation, only to unfold as discovery. I welcome the incongruities and variations of this form and make use of them as inspiration. The process cycles between layering and erasing, shaping and analyzing. These alternating modes carve away at the mystery of a piece and imprint of a sense of internal veracity.
My life and works are bound by intuition, engagement, and resilience. The intent of my work is to provide the viewers an opportunity to translate their own personal vision.

Sayulita's Farmer's Market
Sayulita has so much to offer, from local artisans, craftsmen, jewelers, and Huichol art. Since 2009, the Mercado del Pueblo, Sayulita's Farmer's Market, celebrates wonders of the region by featuring local farmers and families who produce high quality, natural, consumable products. Shoppers from Manzanillo to Chicago to Canada rave that this market is one of best natural food markets that they've seen anywhere!
The Mercado is located on Calle Revolucion north of the bridge, and runs from 10am - 2pm from November through April, and sometimes into May, mimicking the growing season.
